Mother's Day 2009

Joy and Art took the Outlaw down to Huntington Beach for the day. It was beautiful weather! It was Jubilee's second time going down to the water and her first time hanging out in the sand. For more details, click here.

Flying Field Camp Out

The last Saturday of the Month is a "camp out" at the Trabuco RC Flying Club. Typically this means the guys fly during the day, stay until the evening, light a big fire, drink beer and shoot the ****. This month they decided to have an actual camp out requiring tents and campers, so we borrowed the Outlaw and off we went.

Two exciting things happened. The first was the bonfire. The guys filled the 6 foot deep pit (usually used for the pig roast in May) full of wood, then soaked it with gasoline. When it was lit, there was a big explosion that lifted the wood in the pit several feet into the air and flaming embers and bits of wood flying. Erin, who was in the camper at the time felt the whole thing rock! I was standing about 20 feet away and was slammed by a wave of hot air.

The spectators and the pit.

BOOM!

Second exciting thing--Mike flew the Super Stick at night with small LED flashlights taped to the wings to illuminate the body and the tail. (This had been tried before by another pilot who will remain nameless with the lights facing forward on the plane--but once the plane took off, no one could see it any more! CRASH!) Take off was successful, but once the plane circled around once, it was difficult to tell which way it was going. Was it upside down? Coming? Going? We watched the pane circle numerous times, losing it in the fog a few times. We knew we were witnessing the last flight of the Super Stick--especially when Mike kept yelling, "I can't see it! I can't see it!" Miraculously, with some help of the crowd, Mike did manage to land the plane successfully. It was quite a feat!

Thanksgiving '08

We (Mike and Tammy) took the Outlaw to northern Cal to visit Mike's family in Corning. We thought it would be easier than staying in a hotel, and we were right. We re-named the Outlaw to the Jubilee Support Vehicle. It was perfect for carrying all of her "stuff"--the play pin, the baby corral, the highchair, all of her toys, the car seat, the buzzy chair... Then we didn't have to pack and unpack everyday.
It's really quite beautiful up there, as you can see. And of course, the Olives are to die for! To see more of our trip, click here.

Sept. 4th and 5th

Hi, we stayed at Shasta Lake. The lake is down. They say it goes down 1 foot a day in the summer. the fishing in the Sacremento river is good. We heard Sarah Palins speech. WOW.
We have enjoyed the drive through the mountains. Last night we stayed at Seven Feathers RV Resort. It is brand new and attached to an Indian Casino and very upscale. When you call for the shuttle it picks you up at your RV and takes you to the casino. It seems like we're in the middle of nowhere but the casino had a lot of people. we just had dinner and came back home to watch the rest of the Republican convention. Of course MaCains' speech wasn't as riviting as Palins' but I liked it. We are taking Patience on a lot of walks which she likes. when we stepped out of our RV yesterday guess what was looking at us. Yep, that deer in the pic. She stayed long enough for me to get my camera and take a pic. we think she was watching Patience. People are just waking up here and walking there dogs while drinking a cup of coffee. Now I'm going to try to insert a few pictures. Good luck to me.
